On February 11, 1874, the bustling town that sprang up from the crossing of the Western and Chatham railroads was granted official incorporation and named "Town of Sanford." More than 70 years later, Sanford merged with neighboring town Jonesboro and became the "City of Sanford." Let's celebrate our 150 years of progress with events and activities throughout the year!
