Sanford's 150th Birthday Bash
April 1, 2024 was Sanford's official 150th birthday. To celebrate, more than 2,500 residents and visitors spent April 6 at the Lions Club Fairgrounds for birthday cake, ice cream, and fellowship at Sanford's 150th Birthday Bash.
When: Saturday, April 6 from 10am to 4pm
Where: Sanford Lions Club Fairgrounds, 507 N. 7th Street in Sanford
Cost: Free admission and free cake & ice cream (while supplies last). All other refreshments are for purchase.
SCHEDULE:
10am - Gates Open
10:30am - Opening Ceremony
11am - 4pm - Festivities kick off, free cake and ice cream (while supplies last)
4pm - Event end
EXHIBIT HALL
10:30am - Opening Ceremony
10am-4pm - Historical displays from Historian Jimmy Haire, the Lee County Library, Jonesboro Historical Society, Deep River Park Association, and Heart of Deep River Historic Society.
MAIN STAGE
11:15am - Temple Teen Ensemble
12pm - Tuesday Night Music Club
1:30pm - Soultriii
2:45pm - Lee County Schools high school students
MIDWAY STAGE
11am, 12pm, 1pm - 'Magic by David' magic show
2pm - Lee County Schools student performers
3pm - Lee County Schools student percussionist
Between shows, there was face painting and a balloon artist.
ACTIVITIES
10am to 4pm - 150th merch tent
11am to 3pm - Train ride on fairway
11am to 4pm - Hay ride, cow ride, petting zoo, party games, inflatables, touch-a-truck, and tractors
COIN HUNT
The event included three hunts for a 150th commemorative coin. A coin was hidden at 10am, 1pm, and 3pm.
